Once Upon a Time...

How Two Hands and One Dream Colored the Aegean

In the beautiful island of Syros, there lived a loving couple and devoted passionate terrazzo tile artisans named Maria and Gregory.
With an eye for detail and a love for their craft, they built a small workshop filled with colors, patterns, and laughter. There, with their hands and their hearts, they created unique terrazzo tiles, rich in tradition and soul.

Their work was more than just craftsmanship — it was a legacy. Known throughout the Aegean islands ( Paros, Naxos, Amorgos,Kimolos, Kythnos etc) for their quality and kindness, their workshop became a local symbol of creativity. Though time moved on, the spirit of their work remained — etched into every tile, every story told, and every memory made within those walls. Today, their story inspires our own creations — with each pattern telling a piece of their beautiful life.

In Every Tile, a Memory; In Every Act, a Heart

Their workshop was a magical place filled with colorful tiles, tools, and the sound of laughter. Every day, Maria and Gregory would wake up early in the morning and head to their workshop, ready to turn their passion into art. They would spend hours working side by side, creating masterpieces that would bring joy and beauty to the homes and buildings of Syros.Their love for their craft was contagious, and soon their business flourished. People from all over the Cyclades would come to Maria and Gregory‘s workshop to admire their work and request custom-made tiles for their homes. Their reputation as skilled terrazzo tile workers spread far and wide, and they became renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship. But it wasn’t just their talent that made Maria and Gregory special. They were also known for their kindness and generosity. They treated every customer like family, taking the time to understand their needs and desires. They would often go above and beyond to make sure their customers were satisfied, even if it meant working late into the night. To this day, we wish the people of Syros and general in Cyclades to remember Maria and Gregory as the couple who turned their love for terrazzo tile making into a masterpiece of a life. Their story continues to inspire aspiring artisans, reminding them that with passion, hard work, and a little bit of magic, dreams can indeed come true.

Our Philosophy and Mission

At Gregos, we are dedicated to preserving the rich legacy of Mediterranean craftsmanship. Our mission is to honor the intricate artistry passed down through generations, inspired by the founder’s grandfather, a master artisan in tile making. We believe in the power of traditional techniques, reimagined for the modern world, to create products that tell a story.

Each piece, from our hand-crafted ceramics to our wearable accessories, reflects a commitment to quality and heritage. We invite you to join us in celebrating the beauty of handmade artistry, where every item is a testament to the skill and passion of its creator.

Our Journey Through Time...

Trace the evolution of Gregos and its deep-rooted connection to Mediterranean artistry.

1948

A Legacy Begins
In a quiet Athenian neighborhood, when Grigoris first discovered his love for handmade tiles. He learned the craft from neighbors and local artisans who shared their knowledge with open hands and hearts.

1955

Passing the Torch
he had opened his own workshop in Piraeus, where he created mosaics and tiles with a style that blended tradition and soul.

1966

A New Vision
His reputation led him to the Cyclades, where his tiles were in high demand for homes and courtyards kissed by the Aegean sun.

1970

Expanding Horizons
Grigoris and his wife Maria settled in Syros. There, they opened their own store and spent their days shaping memories into clay, side by side—creating vibrant mosaics that echoed the patterns of Greek life.

1975

Aegean Recognition
Grigoris traveled often to Paros, Naxos, and Amorgos, spending seasons working the earth, firing the kilns, and bringing his designs to life in island homes and spaces that welcomed his art.

2023...

Continuing the Legacy
Grigoris passed away in 2023. But the story didn’t end there.
I his granddaughter began tracing his steps, collecting his pieces, and uncovering the soul in his craft.

From that journey, Gregos was born: an online shop that honors their legacy.
